Enzyme bioreactor technology is a breakthrough in wastewater treatment that significantly reduces costs, energy consumption, and sludge production. Unlike conventional treatment methods that rely on large amounts of chemicals and energy-intensive processes, enzyme bioreactors use biological processes to break down contaminants efficiently. At Century+, we have successfully implemented this technology, one has been operating since 2020. This full wastewater treatment plant serves a population of approximately 5,000 people, processes 500 m³ of wastewater per day, and is entirely energy self-sufficient thanks to an integrated solar power system. It provides tertiary treatment while eliminating sludge and odors—addressing key urban wastewater challenges in a sustainable way.
